WPC terrace pedestals: what types of pedestals are there?

Basically, there are two different types of pedestals:

 

1. Pedestals with fixed head:

  • The head of the pedestal is firmly connected to the thread and cannot move.
  • Although the pedestal is height adjustable, it is overall a rigid part.
  • These pedestals are simpler in construction and therefore usually cheaper.
  • Please use these pedestals if you want to transfer an existing slope of the subfloor into the surface

     

    2. Self-levelling pedestals

    • The head of the pedestal is movable and can tilt by +/- 5%.
    • That's great, to compensate for or change an existing slope or to compensate for small unevenness in the subfloor.

    What else do I need to pay attention to?

    In addition to the construction type, the terrace covering is also important:


    A. Pedestal supports for slabs

    • These pedestals have small joint tabs that ensure the correct distance between the slabs.
    • The slabs are placed directly on the pedestals.

    B. Pedestal supports for wooden and WPC terraces

    • Here, a substructure is first placed on the pedestals.
    • The substructure is attached to the pedestal.
    • Only then are the wooden or WPC planks laid on the substructure.
